ABOUT ME
My career in the outdoors started when I attended Scouts where I gained an appreciation and love of the outdoors and the value it brings to learning.
I attended Duchy College in Cornwall for 2 years where I started to learn what it means to be an Outdoor Instructor and the amount of work you have to do to make it look easy. From this point, I knew I wanted to have a career in the outdoors.
My experiences of working in the outdoor industry have varied from a small activity centre with a capacity of 50, to larger centres that hold 1000s. From working in these different types of centre, I have seen that no matter how large or small the centre is, it is the management of the instructors that shapes the success of the centre.
This understanding has influenced the way I work with people. My years working in the industry have not only given me valuable opportunities to work with a wide range of client groups but have also provided opportunities to further my qualifications and understanding of instructing, especially coaching.
I continue to develop my technical skills as well as my soft skills through a range of different courses. I have a sound, practical knowledge of several management theories and models which I use regularly with corporate clients to enhance their own personal development.
